Nippon Steel intends to bid for the ThyssenKrupp steel business in North America

According to the “Japanese Economic News” reported on January 30, in order to improve the automotive steel production,Nippon steel sumitomo metal industries company and Arcelor Mittal Steel Group plan to jointly bid for ThyssenKrupp's steel business in North America. Arcelor and Nippon Steel is respectively the world's first and second largest steel producer.


It is reported that ThyssenKrupp factory in Alabama is valued at approximately 130 billion yen ($ 1.4 billion). And the potential suitors include Brazil national iron and steel company(CompanhiaSiderurgicaNacional) and Japanese steel engineering holding company (JFESteel).


ArcelorMittal and Nippon steel sumitomo metal industries company jointly produce steel sheets for automobiles in the United States.
